Mission Statement
The Allied Health Professions Advising Committee (AHPAC) at Fredonia works to advise and support students preparing for a career in allied health sciences including physical therapy, physician assistant, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, chiropractic and nursing. The committee assists students through course and career advisement, by disseminating information on internship and research opportunities, and by providing guidance on the preparation of a successful professional school application.
Overview
The Allied Health Professions Advising Program at Fredonia assists students interested in attending professional programs in physical therapy, physician assistant, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, chiropractic and nursing. The faculty and staff on the Advising Committee work with students interested in these health care professions.
All Fredonia students interested in attending these professional programs should register with the Allied Health Professions Advising Program. Please see Ms. Caldwell Proper, the Biology Department Administrative Assistant, in Room 221 of the Science Center.
Students can also contact Professor Ted Lee, Chair of the Biology Department and head of the Allied Health Professions Advising Committee, with any questions about the program. Professor Lee's office is Science Center 221C.
Students wishing to become clinical laboratory scientists (these ‘diagnostic detectives’ are also referred to as clinical laboratory technologists and medical technologists) will need to complete our degree program in Medical Technology which leads to state licensure and board certification. You will be advised directly by the department chair and do not need to register with the Allied Health Professions Advising Program.
