Veterans Affairs Student Application Checklist
This checklist is intended for all military-affiliated students, including dependents of veterans.
- Apply for Admission at SUNY Fredonia.
- Apply for VA Benefits.
- New and Transfer Students Complete:

- Submit DD214, Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE), Certificate of Eligibility (COE)
- Request a copy of your DD214 military service record.
- Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) VA Form DD-2384-1 is used to determine eligibility to receive the Montgomery GI Bill® Educational Assistance Benefits (MGIB). Members must obtain their NOBE from their service unit of assignment.
- Certificate of Eligibility (COE) is sent to service personnel after confirming eligibility with the NOBE.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Fill out a SUNY Fredonia Veterans Fact Sheet to certify your enrollment to receive VA benefits.
- Transfer students must transfer their VA Education Benefits to SUNY Fredonia.
- Supply degree plan, for students receiving VA Tutorial Assistance.
- Visit the Veteran Financial Aid Information web page to use cost calculators and other resources.
- Visit the Student Accounts Office website.
- Contact Residence Life Office (if applicable) or call 716-673-3341.
- For National Guard and active Reservists, speak with your unit's career counselor and first-line leader about using additional state and federal benefits.
- Visit Disability Support Services for Accommodations (if applicable). For an appointment, call 716-673-3270.
- Complete the E-Services Critical Checklist to access your campus email, use WiFi, YourConnection, etc.
- Make an appointment with the Chautauqua County Veterans Services Agency (Veterans Only) or call 716-268-6030 to find out all your benefits.
- Current Students may apply for Veterans Scholarships:

- Courage & Honor Scholarship
- Ronald L. and Marilyn M. Denison Scholarship

- Veterans Fact Sheet - All veterans and military affiliated students receiving any educational benefits must complete the Veterans Fact Sheet to initiate the certification process.
