All social work majors are required to complete a field practicum (internship) during their senior year in the program. While in the practicum, a student will work in a community-based, human service organization for approximately 12 to 15 hours each week, during both the fall and the spring semesters of his/her senior year. This 340 hour (total) learning/practice experience is guided by an agency-based field instructor who is an experienced, professional social worker. In addition, students participate in a weekly seminar where they learn more about each other’s community-based practicum organizations and share practice experiences.
