David Duro, trumpet
As one of Northeast Ohio’s most active free-lance trumpeters, David Duro is heard in venues from Columbus to Cleveland to Buffalo, NY. As a founding member of Burning River Brass, he has had the privilege to play concerts throughout the United States, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and in Taiwan, in addition to recording 7 CDs with the ensemble. David currently plays with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra as an associate musician; helped in the founding of the BlueWater Chamber Orchestra in Cleveland; and often plays as a substitute or extra musician with the Buffalo Philharmonic and the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus. He is also a frequent performer in the theaters of Playhouse Square in Cleveland for touring shows.
Currently an adjunct trumpet instructor at SUNY Fredonia, he also teaches at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, OH. Other college teaching experience includes Memphis State University, West Virginia University, University of Tennessee at Martin, Rhodes College (Memphis), the University of Akron, Hiram College, Mercyhurst College, and Muskingum University. Mr. Duro also taught trumpet in the Preparatory Division of the Cleveland Institute of Music for 14 years.
David has a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music; a Master or Music in Trumpet Performance from Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis); and did Professional Studies in Trumpet Performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
