Fredonia Concert Band - “Making Sound You Can See"
The first Costello Interplay Award funded a research project entitled “Making Sound You Can See: Visualization of Audio Source Separation and Instrument Detection for Augmenting Live Concert Experience”
The Department of Computer and Information Sciences Assistant Professor Gang Hu and School of Music Associate Professor Ray Stewart are teaming with Fredonia students Daniel Luong, Corbin Dzimian, and Samuel McCagg to made the sound you hear at a concert “visual” in new and exciting ways. The projections of music and conductor's movement were shown during the playing of "Orion III" by the Columbian composer James Diaz.
"Music You Can See" was funded through the generous support of the Costello Interplay Award, Fredonia College Foundation, State University of New York at Fredonia.
The high-resolution projection equipment was funded in part by a grant from the Margaret L. Wendt Foundation, Ray Stewart, conductor.
