The Willard F. Stanley Memorial Scholarship
Dr. Stanley served Fredonia as the Chair of Sciences, Chair of Biology and Professor of Biology from 1935 until his retirement in 1970. Prior to his Fredonia tenure, Dr. Stanley served as Professor and Chair of Biology at Minot State Teachers College in North Dakota. He received his BA degree in 1927 from North Central College and his PhD degree in 1932 from the University of Illinois. Dr. Stanley was well known for his research on local fauna and flora with emphasis on ornithology, and was a highly respected and beloved faculty member at Fredonia.
These scholarships are given to students majoring in environmental/field biology or ecology who are strong scholars and active contributors to the department.
