The 100th anniversary of the births of five jazz icons will be commemorated at a guest artist recital, featuring pianist Tony Caramia, ’73, with School of Music faculty Kieran Hanlon on bass and Alec Dube on drums, on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 8 p.m.

Mr. Caramia is a Professor of Piano at the Eastman School of Music.

Rosch Recital Hall will host the concert that celebrates the music and legacies left by Thelonious Monk (born Oct. 10), Tadd Dameron (Feb. 21), Johnny Guarnieri (March 23), Dizzy Gillespie (Oct. 21) and Buddy Rich (Sept. 30) – all born in 1917.

The concert is free and open to the public.
