The State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) is set to kickoff its annual fundraising campaign at Fredonia on Oct. 2. The campaign’s goal is $45,000, and all funds raised go to support New York health and human service agencies year-round.

SEFA is the United Way Foundation’s charitable initiative that uses donations to aid people of all ages and backgrounds statewide.

The Solicitors Brunch will be held Oct. 2, at 9 a.m. at the Alumni House. The Maintenance Kickoff will be held Thursday, Oct. 9, at 9:30 a.m. in Thompson W211, and the Custodial Kickoff will be held later that day, at 1 p.m. in Thompson W217.

While paper pledges have been used in the past, this year marks the first in which no paper pledges will be used - all pledges will be done through a new online pledging system. Instructions for the new system will be provided to solicitors and available on the SEFA website.

Employees can choose to have their donations given directly to one of the many charitable agencies that partner with SEFA, or they can choose to have SEFA allocate their donations wherever they are most needed.

The SEFA committee is seeking full participation from faculty and staff. A waffle breakfast at the President’s House will be a drawing prize, and departments with 100 percent participation will be entered into a drawing for a $200 allocation of the President’s Office Faculty Student Association funding.

The deadline to be eligible for the prize drawing is Friday, Nov. 21, and the date of the prize drawing is Friday, Dec. 5. More information can be found at sefanys.org.
