The 2020 Fredonia State Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony has been postponed.
Director of Athletics Jerry Fisk said the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated the postponement of the 25th event, previously scheduled for Oct. 17 during Homecoming Weekend.
A new date will be announced once the health situation across the country becomes clearer.
"We want to make sure that when we induct this Hall of Fame class," Mr. Fisk said, "the celebration is benefiting their athletic achievements as Blue Devils. With the challenges surrounding travel right now, we want to be sure that everyone being honored is able to travel to Fredonia without restrictions in place."
Five individuals and teams from three programs have been chosen for induction into the Hall of Fame. The individuals are player-coach-administrator Greg Prechtl (ʼ69), Jordan Basile (ʼ09) from baseball, Matt Borchard (ʼ06) from men's soccer, Sarah Hite-Moore (ʼ05) from women's track and field, and Walt Hubbard (ʼ93) from men's basketball. The new Teams of Distinction are 1981 men's cross country, 1985 and 1986 men's soccer, and 1992-93 men's basketball.
