The 2021 Outstanding Administrative Service Awards have been presented to five SUNY Fredonia employees, whose collective service spans more than 60 years and all major departments within the Finance and Administration division. The awards highlight exemplary service that employees give to the campus.

Vice President for Finance and Administration Michael Metzger told the recipients, “Thank you for your resilience and dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a university we continued to educate, house and feed our students to finish the Fall 2020 semester. An even higher achievement was that we were able to have a full Spring 2021 semester. Each year I have the privilege of recognizing the very best.”

Criteria for the award, now in its 19th year, includes: outstanding Fredonia service attitude; creativity and resourcefulness in improving services; demonstrated team effort in everyday actions, and positive attitude in dealing with students, faculty and staff.

Award recipients include:

Joan Schnur, from Secretarial/Clerical, has been employed at Fredonia since September 2010. She is currently an Office Assistant 1 in the Purchasing Department. Ms. SchnurJoan is a resident of Dunkirk.

Katie Brown of the Faculty Student Association (FSA) professional staff and Retail Operations Manager of the Bookstore, has been employed at Fredonia since January 2006. Ms. Brown is a resident of Fredonia.

Jeannette Guziec of the Faculty Student Association (FSA) Operational Services, is currently a Grade 6 Assistant Cook in Cranston Marche’. She began her career at FSA in December 2010 as a part time assistant service worker and then promoted to full-time Grill Cook in 2018. Ms. Guziec resides in Dunkirk.

Elizabeth Goblirsch, a Janitor with Custodial Services, who began her career at Fredonia in February 2011 as a cleaner. Ms. Goblirsch resides in Dunkirk.

Steve Gromala, a Grade 12 Service and Repair Mechanic in Automotive and Fleet Services, who began his career at Fredonia in January 2009 as a Garage Maintenance Helper. During this time, Steve was also promoted to Highway Equipment Operator as well as Maintenance Assistant. Mr. Gromala resides in Dunkirk.
