The Fredonia State women's soccer team kept its winning ways going, improving to 4-0-1 with a 2-1 victory over visiting Utica College on Saturday. Nicki Barlow provided the winning goal in the 52nd minute and the Devil defense held on for the win.
Utica opened the scoring three minutes into the game when Ro Hernandez lofted a perfect shot from about 35 yards out that went just over Fredonia State goaltender Sabrina Suriani's outstretched arms. It was the fourth goal of the season for Hernandez.
In the 14th minute Jordan Barrett would tie the score with her first goal of the season as Barlow assisted.
Suriani finished with five saves. Utica's Courtney Connolly made 10 saves while surrendering both goals.
Fredonia outshot Utica 25-12, including a 12-7 advantage of shots on goal. They had six corner kicks compared to one for the Pioneers. Utica falls to 2-1-0.
The Devils travel to Buffalo to take on Medaille College on Wednesday.
