Todd Schauss (Terryville, Conn.) broke a scoreless tie at 6:22 of the third period to account for Fredonia's lone goal in a 1-1 overtime tie Saturday with the SUNY Canton Kangaroos.

After Jasper Korican-Barlay (Oakland, Calif.) won the draw to the right of Roos goaltender Michael Cerasuolo, Schauss snapped the puck into the top corner for his fourth goal of the season.

Sean David scored for the hosts less than two minutes later. The play began in the same face-off circle where Fredonia began its scoring play. The Roos. David Hopfer won the draw and raced the puck up the right boards. David scored following a give-and-go with linemate Jake Mayette.

The goal was the lone blemish on the record of Fredonia freshman goaltender Justin Crawford (Bensalem, Pa.). Making his first collegiate appearance, Crawford made 27 saves. Cerasuolo was credited with 28 stops for the Roos.

In addition to Crawford, it was also the first college game for freshmen Tanner Kahlau (Mountain Top, Pa.) and Chandler Judd (Greenville, S.C.). In Friday's game, freshman Matt Letmanski (Wheaton, Ill.) appeared in his first game.

The tie left the Blue Devils -- ranked No. 14 at the start of the week -- with an 8-2-2 record at the end of the first semester. They are now off until Fri., Jan. 4, when they play host to Stevenson.

SUNY Canton ended play Saturday with a 4-5-2 mark.
