Four Fredonia State student-athletes were among the eight campus nominees for the 2020 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence.
All eight were honored at a reception at Lanford House hosted by Fredonia State Interim President Dennis Hefner. The group included:
Alyson Baumann of women's swimming and diving. Majoring in Communication Disorders and Science, Alyson is the daughter of Sue and Martin Baumann of North Tonawanda.
Ty Bentham of men's soccer. An Exercise Science major from Columbus, Ind., Bentham is the son of Cara and Larry Bentham.
Anna Chiacchia of women's tennis and women's basketball. Anna hails from Hamburg, and is a double major: Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. She is the daughter of Jill and Dan Chiacchia.
Avril King of women's tennis. The daughter of Kathleen and Brian Meteyer, Avril also is a double major: Public Relations and Journalism. She is a native of Naples, N.Y.
All eight campus nominees were considered for their strong academic performance and service and leadership at Fredonia State. Final selection of campus winners is made by a state-wide committee.
