At the conclusion of the SUNYAC Women's Soccer Tournament, the All-Tournament Team was announced by the SUNYAC on Sunday.
Fredonia seniors Katie Sellers and Grace Auer were named to the squad. The Devils defeated Buffalo State, 2-0, before falling to the regular-season and tournament champions New Paltz, 4-0.
Sellers scored her 13th goal of the season and the game winner vs. Buffalo State. Auer, a defender, was a major factor in the Blue Devils success, taking the corner kicks for the team all year long.
On Saturday at the conclusion of the Wooster Classic, the tip-off tournament for the women's basketball team, Payton Gilbert was named the Tournament MVP. She averaged 16.0 points and 12.0 rebounds in a pair of games as the Devils went 2-0 and were crowned tournament champions. She achieved a double-double in both games -- 14 points and 13 rebounds vs. Thiel, and 18 and 11 in an overtime win over Carlow.
Grace Alexander was also named to the All-Tournament Team. She averaged 20.0 points, 4.5 assists, 2.5 steals and led the team with six 3 pointers. Alexander and Gilbert are sophomores.
The soccer team concluded its season with a 12-8 record, tying the team record for most wins in a season. Conversely, the basketball team is just getting started. The team plays host to Chatham College in its home opener on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Dods Hall.
