The Fredonia Alumni Golf Tournament will mark its 10th anniversary when golfers assemble at Shorewood Country Club, 4958 W. Lake Rd., Dunkirk, on Friday, July 13, to raise money to fund scholarships.

The tournament is a four-player scramble, with each team selecting the best shot from the tee through the last putt. Registration and a light lunch begins at 11 a.m. and is followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The afternoon concludes with a dinner buffet, tournament awards and prize giveaways.

Individual golfers, in addition to teams, are welcome and will be assigned to foursomes. Proper golf attire is required at Shorewood. Those wishing to support the tournament but do not golf are welcome to attend the dinner.

Proceeds will benefit the University Police Scholarship, Alumni Association scholarships and Fredonia College Foundation academic scholarships. The 2017 tournament raised more than $9,000.

“We definitely hope to bypass that this year,” said tournament committee member Spencer Morgan, associate director of Development with University Advancement.

Major tournament sponsors include Johnson Controls, Inc., Lipsitz, Green, Scime, Cambria, LLP., Lake Shore Savings Bank, DFT Communications, Basil Chevrolet Buick Cadillac and the Buffalo Bills.

Registrations, which are due by Monday, July 2, can be placed online. For more information, contact the Alumni Affairs Office at 716-673-3553.
