Owen Wagner, a junior from Tonawanda, NY, has been named the Honors Program Student of the Month for March.
Research and Information Literary Services Librarian Christina Hilburger nominated the junior Ethnic and Gender Studies major, who serves as the Reed Library engagement and outreach intern, has a minor in English and is a member of Sigma Tau Delta.
"Even before starting the internship, I noticed how active Owen was across campus, attending events, participating in discussions and encouraging peers to utilize the library and other services,” Ms. Hilburger commented.
“Owen’s collaborative spirit has already strengthened our team’s efforts, and I anticipate they will continue to contribute meaningfully to Reed Library and the broader campus community throughout their time at Fredonia," she added.
They have demonstrated remarkable qualities that align with personal development, problem-solving and interpersonal competence, observed Hilburger, who supervises the internship.
“Owen approaches each task with enthusiasm and professionalism, embodying a go-getter attitude that has significantly enhanced the library’s outreach efforts, particularly with our Low-Sensory/Lo-Fi Day and last semester's Reed Readers book club,” Hilburger said. Regularly attending campus events leads to proactively engaging with students, faculty and staff, thus building meaningful connections, she added.
“Owen’s dedication not only enriches the library’s programs but also strengthens the sense of community across the campus. I am confident that Owen will continue to develop these qualities and make an even greater impact during their time with us,” Hilburger said.
The Honors Program supports and celebrates the successes of a cohort of highly academically motivated students.
