Jackson Retzer's goal in the 85th minute was his fifth of the season and enabled Fredonia State men's soccer to force up and try for the tie Saturday at home vs. New Paltz. The comeback fell short as the Hawks hung on for a 2-1 SUNYAC win at University Stadium.

Kevin Doorley had a goal and an assist for New Paltz. He scored in the 31st minute to give his team a 1-0 lead, then assisted Luke Dole in the 55th minute. Those were two of the eight shots by the Hawks (7-4-0 overall, 1-2-0 SUNYAC). Fredonia State goalkeeper Ty Bentham made five saves.

The Blue Devils (4-6-2 overall, 1-3-0 SUNYAC) took 18 shots, six by Conrad Rathbun. Three of Rathbun's shots were on on goal and among the six saves by New Paltz goalkeeper Marc DePasquale.
