The 2020 game represents the 14th straight season Fredonia State hockey has recognized cancer survivors at a home game.
The purchase of game-worn jerseys began in 2008 and has formed the bulk of the hockey program's $91,000 donation toward breast cancer research conducted by the American Cancer Society.
A donation of $250 purchased a jersey and allowed the donor to place the name of a cancer survivor on the nameplate. Instead of having their own names on their jerseys, each of the Blue Devils will take to the ice that night representing the survivor whose jersey they will be wearing. The donor will receive the jersey from the player during an on-ice ceremony following the game.
