Ekstasis Duo, a new ensemble formed by cellist Dr. Natasha Farny and pianist Eliran Avni of the School of Music, will launch a new chamber music series, Music at Fellowships, in March.

The inaugural concert will be held on Sunday, March 17, at 1 p.m., at Fellowships of the Spirit Lakeside Learn, 282 Dale Drive, Cassadaga. The program includes: “Apres un Reve,” by Gabriel Fauré; “Piece en forme de Habanera,” Maurice Ravel; “Sonata op. posthume” (transcription of the Violin Sonata No. 1), by Ravel; “Beau Soir,” Claude Debussy; and “Scaramouche Suite,” Darius Milhaud.

There is an admission fee at the door.

A reprise of the all-French concert will be held at the Hochstein School Performance Hall, 50 Plymouth Ave., Rochester, N.Y., on Wednesday, March 20, at noon. The concert will also be broadcast live by WXXI-FM, 91.5 as part of the public radio station’s long-running “Live from Hochstein” series. Admission to the brown bag concert series is free.

Dr.  Farny and Mr. Avni met as students years ago at The Juilliard School and reconnected a year ago. After performing acclaimed concerts together in New York City and upstate New York, the pair decided to embark on a new mission to create compelling programming that celebrates masterpieces alongside the secret jewels of lesser-known works.

More information about the ensemble is available online.
