Dr. Ivani Vassoler-Froelich
Dr. Ivani Vassoler-Froelich of the Department of Politics and International Affairs, who also serves as coordinator of the International Studies program, was invited to join the Open Lecture Series at the Catholic University of Lisbon, Portugal.
Together with Dr. Jesus Trevino of the University of Nuevo Leon in Mexico, she gave a lecture on the political economy of urbanization from a comparative perspective.
At another event, she will meet Catholic students from the Faculty of Human Sciences and present the nuts and bolts of American politics and their impact on U.S. foreign policy.
As part of her sabbatical activities, Vassoler also served as a panelist in October in the Forum on International Education organized by the Luso-American Foundation for Development. The Lisbon-based organization promotes exchanges and cooperation projects between the United States and Portugal in education, culture, science and transatlantic relations. In Lisbon, Professor Vassoler is conducting a research project focusing on cities and climate change with the collaboration of European and American scholars.
