Long jumper Cassie Serafin
Day 2 highlights for women at the 2020 SUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Meet at the SUNY Brockport Special Events & Recreation Center:
Cassie Serafin had her second podium finish in as many events with a sixth-place in the long jump. The junior's 5.28 meters (17' 4") represented an indoor personal-best, an improvement by 3 ¼ inches over her previous-best of 5.20 meters last month. Serafin finished second Friday in the triple jump – thereby becoming Second Team All SUNYAC.
Serafin earned three points Saturday after earning eight on Friday. She was unable to add to her total in her final event of the meet, the high jump, tying for 11th after clearing 1.47 meters (4' 9 ¾"). Trinity Tartaro, a freshman, also competed in the high jump.
Fredonia's other individual competitor Saturday was junior MaryClaire Haseley. She completed 3,000 meters in 11:51.35.
In the 4-by-400 relay, the quartet of Sarah Buckley, Emily Fish, Morgan Ashton, Ali Dixon combined for 4:10.99.
The Blue Devils finished eighth in the team standings. They were outpointed by Buffalo State, which earned the two Lake Erie Cup points in the all-sport series between the Western New York rivals.
Three personal-bests were recorded Friday. Maddie Sohl in the 60-meter hurdles, Morgan Ashton in the 800 meters, and Macy Brooks in the shot put. All three were took down recent marks. The PRs by Sohl (:10.68) and Ashton (2:26.62) erased marks set last weekend at Nazareth's Conference Tune-Up meet. The PR by Brooks in the shot (10.26 m.) took down her previous-best throw Jan. 31 at RIT.
