Dr. Sheffield’s talk, "Untangling the evolutionary patterns of ancient animals," will discuss the problems of understanding the family tree of early echinoderms from their fossil record.

Sheffield, a member of Binghamton’s Department of Earth Sciences, studies the fossil record and evolution of echinoderms. She is also deeply involved in science communication and creating science education content with the Time Scavengers website.
