The Fredonia baseball team will host its first annual "Pitch For Purple" game on April 28th when the Blue Devils take on Plattsburgh in a double header beginning at noon. The event is to raise awareness for domestic violence. It was originally scheduled for April 14, but moved to this weekend due to the weather.

Prior to the event, the players set up informational table outside the library and wore their purple jerseys on select days to raise awareness of the issue. They also collected clothes and donations for the ANEW Center in Jamestown which provides services and education for victims of domestic violence. The team also attended an education session put on by Leslie DeSantis of the ANEW Center.

A trio of players, Pat Sheehan, Kevin Yirinec, and DJ Schiersing have taken the lead in putting the game together. BSN sports has donated the purple jerseys the players will wear that day. BSN rep Erik Krajewski will throw out the game's celebratory first pitch.
