The Fredonia Bassoon Ensemble in Rosch Recital Hall.
The Fredonia Bassoon Ensemble will present its fall concert on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 8 p.m., in Rosch Recital Hall.
The group will perform transcribed and original works by Antonio Vivaldi, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Tomaso Albinoni, Johann Kugelmann, Ernesto Nazareth, John Zamecnik and Astor Piazzolla.
The ensemble was formed in 2011 and since its inception has presented 14 recitals on campus, and was a featured performer at the 2013 Erie County Music Educators Association (ECMEA) conference in Buffalo. The ensemble members are bassoonists from the School of Music, and is directed by Associate Professor Laura Koepke. On every recital, at least one piece is transcribed or arranged by a student member. The ensemble presents a wide range of repertoire, spanning time periods from the Renaissance to newly-composed works. It performs large ensemble pieces (approximately 12 members), as well as smaller chamber pieces, and the focus is on high level musicianship and fun.
The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
