Associate Professor of English Birger Vanwesenbeeck presented a paper at the annual convention of the Modernist Studies Association in Amsterdam in August. Part of a panel that explored the connections between translation and loss, Dr. Vanwesenbeeck’s paper focused on Sylvia Plath’s little-known translation of the poem, “Ein Prophet,” by the German poet Rainer Maria Rilke.
A lecture given by Vanwesenbeeck earlier this year at Western Illinois University was also reviewed in The Mirror and the Lamp, a publication of the Phi Delta chapter of Sigma Tau Delta at Western Illinois University. It can be accessed online.
