Designers & Forests is a small group of interested individuals engaging in a conversation about their, and society’s, involvement with forest environments. Through interaction with the forest environment, there are many opportunities for connections between individuals, scientists and designers to engage in interdisciplinary research and creative collaboration throughout the world. Designers & Forests’ aim is to create healthier forests, healthier communities, while creating better designers and citizens. They believe in taking creative risks, confronting conflicts, and making informed decisions that will benefit the small communities in which people live and work.
Ms. Urban is a visual communicator. Her graphic design and fine art are driven by a desire to understand how history and experience change the perception of identity, culture, and environment. Urban’s work ranges from traditional design, to interdisciplinary collaborations with community activists, scientists, and industrial designers, to drawing, painting, and installation based artwork. Before teaching graphic design in the Department of Visual Arts and New Media at Fredonia, Megan taught at Appalachian State University, Virginia Commonwealth University and Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College and holds a Master of Fine Art in Visual Communication degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Mr. Dilworth has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Communication from Weber State University, Ogden, Utah, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. He joined the Department of Visual Arts and New Media as faculty in 2010 and teaches graphic design and typography. Informally educated in Deseret his art and practice reflect a love of geology, history, ecology, mythology, mysticism, conceptual, performance, and folk arts. Drawing from a rich cabinet of curiosity, Dilworth’s work “transverses a serpentine line between the mundane and the willowwacks.” He has been actively engaged with Project M both as a participant and advisor including: Pizza Farm (2009), Think Wrong Workshops at a Better World by Design (2009), Project M Frankfurt (2010) and Alabamboo: Make and Ride (2011).
