Senior thrower Damone Brown (Haverstraw, N.Y./North Rockland) and two teammates qualified for the NCAA Atlantic Regional meet during Saturday's Rochester Institute of Technology February Invitational men's indoor track & field meet.

Brown won the shot put with a throw of 15.39 meters (50 feet, 6 inches), tops among 35 men entered in the event. He earned 10 points toward Fredonia's fifth-place finish.

Also gaining All-Atlantic Region recognition were senior Justyn Haines (Albion/Albion), second in the pole vault at 4.70 meters (15 feet, 5 inches), and freshman Dan Sudyn (West Seneca/West Seneca West), second in the long jump at 6.74 meters (22 feet, 1 1/2 inches). They are eligible for the Atlantic Regional meet March 2-3 at Ithaca College.

Others individuals earning team points -- each event was scored through eight places -- were the tandem of senior Merlin Joseph Jr. (Binghamton/Binghamton) and junior Ethan Francis (Dunkirk/Dunkirk), fourth and eighth, respectively, in the mile run; the tanden of freshman Wolfgarr Lobo (Geneseo/Avon) and sophomore Jordan Toland (Lockport/Lockport), fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 35-pound weight throw; and freshman Roan Baxter-Martin (Ithaca/Ithaca), seventh in the triple jump.

The Blue Devils also earned one eighth-place point in the 4-by-400 meter relay.
