Food pantries will be up and running during the last two weeks of the semester to help students whose own cupboards are becoming increasingly empty.
“We have all found that the end of the college semester is a difficult time for many, and there are several Fredonia students that struggle with food instability, said Deborah Dibble, director of the Student Health Center. A pilot food pantry set up at the end of the fall semester revealed food uncertainty among some students. More than 1,000 items of donated non-perishable food were given out.
Locations, days and times of operation of food pantries will be as follows: LoGrasso Hall vestibule, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Williams Center information desk, near Tim Horton’s, Monday-Friday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. during Study Week only; and Williams Center Information Desk, seven days a week, 5 p.m. to midnight.
The food pantries, which begin operation on Monday, May 1, are co-sponsored by the Office of Campus Life, Student Health Center and Counseling Center to serve students in need.
