Graduation Day
Graduation Day at SUNY Fredonia
SUNY Fredonia’s Commencement Committee is seeking student, faculty, and staff volunteers to help with both commencement ceremonies held on May 16. "It takes hundreds of helping hands to execute an event of this magnitude with grace," Erin Mroczka, assistant director of Campus Life, said.

Special housing arrangements can be made for those students living on campus who volunteer for commencement.

Volunteers will be assigned to handle a wide range of duties, including holding doors for guests, taking tickets, passing out programs, pointing out restroom facilities, clearing walkways, and showing graduates where to line up prior to the ceremony.  Additionally, volunteers will usher guest into seats, collect name cards for the photographer, and applaud as the faculty and students enter into a crowd of more than 3,000 cheering fans.

There are three duty shifts available. The first is the morning ceremony which will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The second shift will be the afternoon ceremony to be held from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided at both. The third option is to volunteer to work from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., covering both ceremonies. For this shift both breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Those interested can sign-up in person at the Campus Life office on the main floor of the Williams Center or send an email to Erin Mroczka.  "SUNY Fredonia would like members of the campus community to help celebrate another year of success at SUNY Fredonia," she said.
