Services and operations at SUNY Fredonia will be mostly curtailed for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays in order to conserve utility costs. With the exception of a few offices, college buildings will be closed and heat reduced, beginning at the close of business on Friday, Dec. 21. Many facilities will re-open Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013.
University Police will continue to operate 24 hours a day, every day. In the event of an emergency, call 716-673-3333.
Exceptions to the one-week shutdown include the following:
- Residence halls will close Saturday, Dec. 22, at 9 a.m. and re-open Saturday, Jan. 26, at 9 a.m.
- The Admissions Office in Fenner Hall will be open, with limited staffing, throughout the shutdown period with the exception of Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, when the office will be closed.
- Reed Library will close Friday, Dec. 21, at 4:30 p.m. and re-open Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at 7:30 a.m.
- McEwen G22 Computer Lab will close Friday, Dec. 21, at 4:30 p.m. and re-open Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at 7:30 a.m.
- Thompson Hall Media Center will close Friday, Dec. 21, at 5 p.m. and re-open Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at 7 a.m.
- SUNY Fredonia Credit Union will be open Monday, Dec. 24, 9 a.m. to noon; Wednesday, Dec. 26, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 27, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 28, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 31, 9 a.m. to noon. The office will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day. The Credit Union will be open Wednesday, Jan. 2, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- The Campus and Community Children’s Center will be closed Monday, Dec. 24, through New Year’s Day.
- FSA Office will close Friday, Dec. 21, at 5 p.m. and re-open Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at 8:30 a.m.
- University Bookstore and Convenience Store will be open Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 26-28, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and, Monday through Friday, Jan. 2-25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both will be closed Christmas and New Year’s Day.
- Starbucks will be open Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 22 and 23, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Monday, Dec. 24, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Dec. 26-31, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Monday through Friday, Jan. 2-25, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Starbucks will be closed Christmas and New Year’s Day.
- Tim Hortons and Cranston Marche will close Friday, Dec. 21, and re-open Wednesday, Jan. 2. Visit fsa.fredonia.edu for hours of operation. The J-75 Meal Plan will be available for students enrolled in J-Term. Cash, check, major credit cards, SUNY Fredonia debit accounts and FREDFunds will be accepted at Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Cranston Marche, University Bookstore and Convenience Store.
- University Bookstore and Convenience Store will be open Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 26-28, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and, Monday through Friday, Jan. 2-25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both will be closed Christmas and New Year’s Day.
- Dods and Steele Hall will host limited activities Dec. 21 through Jan. 2, 2013. Public skating will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 21, 22 and 23, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 28, 29 and 30, 7:30 to 9 p.m. Both facilities will be closed Christmas and New Year’s Day.
- The Fitness Center and racquetball courts in Dods Hall will be open Jan. 2-4, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Jan. 7-10, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Jan. 14-18, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Jan. 22-25, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- The pool in Steele Hall will be open for public swimming Jan. 2-4, 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and 8 to 10 p.m. Those hours will be continued Jan. 7-11, 14-18, 21-25.
- The Fitness Center and racquetball courts in Dods Hall will be open Jan. 2-4, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Jan. 7-10, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Jan. 14-18, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Jan. 22-25, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- The Employee Assistance Program office will be closed, but the EAP coordinator will check messages left at 716-673-3586 and schedule appointments if necessary during the holiday break.
- The Fredonia College Foundation, 272 Central Ave., Foundation House, will be open during the shutdown except Monday, Dec. 24; Christmas Day; and New Year’s Day. The Foundation will process gifts during the last week of December. Anyone having questions regarding an end-of-year gift can call 716-673-3321. - Facilities Services will have limited maintenance and custodial staffing during the holiday shutdown. There will be limited snowplowing of parking lots and walkways and limited snow shoveling at building entrances. Non-essential parking lots will not be plowed during evenings and nights. In an emergency, contact University Police, 716-673-3333. Requests for maintenance submitted online will be monitored daily.
- Facilities Services offices will be closed Saturday, Dec. 22, through Wednesday, Dec. 26, and Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 29 and 30. Office hours return Thursday and Friday, Dec. 27 and 28, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Monday, Dec. 31, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office will be closed Christmas and New Year’s Day.
- Heating Services will provide standard, around-the-clock coverage except on Christmas and New Year’s Day.
- The mailroom will be closed Monday, Dec. 24, Christmas, Wednesday, Dec. 26; Friday, Dec. 28; Monday, Dec. 31; and New Year’s Day. The mailroom will be open Thursday, Dec. 27, 8:30 a.m. to noon. There will be no general campus delivery or pickup during the holiday shutdown.
- Central Stores will be open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Dec. 26-28, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and will be closed Monday, Dec. 24, Christmas Day, Dec. 31 and New Year ’s Day.
- The garage will be closed Monday, Dec. 24, Christmas, Monday, Dec. 31, and New Year’s Day. It will be open Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 26-28, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Facilities Services offices will be closed Saturday, Dec. 22, through Wednesday, Dec. 26, and Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 29 and 30.
