The Fredonia Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Donald P. Lang, will launch their Great Britain Tour, a 17-day excursion that includes performances in historic churches and theatres in Wales and England, on Saturday, May 19.
Dornoch Cathedral, a quaint 13th century cathedral renowned for outstanding acoustics, Nairn Old Parish Church; Elvet Methodist Church; and Palace Theatre are among venues that will host performances by these Fredonia students. The Chamber Singers will also perform with Cantamus Ladies Choir, recipient of three gold prizes at a choral festival held last summer in China.
Sightseeing in several cities, including Manchester, England, and Edinburgh, Scotland, is also on the itinerary.
The tour will reunite Emma Hudson, a teacher, composer and music graduate of Oxford University, with Dr. Lang and the Chamber Singers. Ms. Hudson credits tri-annual visits by the Chamber Singers over the years and her brief study at a Fredonia Summer Choral program for her success in music. Ms. Hudson was just 2 years of age when she was introduced to the Chamber Singers.
Fredonia students return to the U.S. on Monday, June 4.
