The Child Advocacy Program of Chautauqua County will be facilitating the Stewards of Children training program for sexual abuse prevention on Wednesday, April 15 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Fenton Hall Room 176.

The goals of the training are to help adults prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Students, faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to attend. The event is being hosted by the university’s Social Work Club and Psi Chi Honor Society in Psychology, and earlier in April, 16 current students were trained in the program.

The Stewards of Children program addresses child sexual abuse in the context of current issues and features a combination of survivor stories, expert advice and practical guidance. The program teaches The 5 Steps to Protecting our ChildrenTM and how a few simple actions can have far-reaching positive effects.

The training costs $10 and scholarships are available if cost is a barrier. Registration for the training can be made by FAX at 716-338-9846, by email at yeverskyk@capjustice.org or by regular mail to The Child Advocacy Program at 405 West Third Street, Jamestown, NY 14701. Walk in registration will also be available.
