What would it be like if children could run for the highest office in the land? Find out for yourself this election season with an engaging tale in which kids decide who our next president will be.
Child’s Play Touring Theatre, which specializes in performing original works written by young authors, will bring “Kids for President” to Marvel Theatre at the State University of New York at Fredonia for a 7 p.m. performance on Friday, Oct. 3.
It is the opening event in the 2008-09 Lake Shore Savings Season Kaleidoscope Family Series at Rockefeller Arts Center. With an early show time and performances that run about an hour, the Kaleidoscope events are an opportunity to introduce children to the wonder and joy of live theater. “Kids for President” is recommended for ages 6 and up.
Child’s Play Touring Theatre returns to Rockefeller Arts Center following its successful presentation of “The Christmas That Almost Wasn’t” in 2005.
During the course of its 27-year history, Child’s Play has earned special commendations from the Western States Arts Federation, the Southern Arts Federation and the MidAmerica Arts Alliance. Child’s Play was chosen twice to perform at the International Children’s Theatre Showcase and was the only American children’s theatre invited to perform at the First New York International Arts Festival.
Through workshops and residencies, more than 10,000 young writers have seen their words transformed into live theater and more than 4 million children nationally have witnessed performances of these works.
