The Fredonia School of Music has announced pianist Jesse Bonaventura, clarinetist Guangzhao Haung and percussionist Dennis O'Keefe as winners of the Annual Concerto Competition, held in King Concert Hall on Sunday, April 30. The two-hour long event included performances by nine talented music students, all competing for the coveted honor of being named Concert Competition winner.
"All the competitors played extremely well, making for a wonderful concert," commented Dr. Sarah Hamilton, one of nine judges for the competition. "Many thanks to King Concert Hall and its staff for hosting the event, and especially to the collaborative pianists who made it all possible."
Mr. Bonaventura (studio of Fr. Sean Duggan) will be a senior next fall majoring in Music Performance, with a minor in Computer Science. Mr. Huang (studio of Dr. Andrew Seigel) will be a senior next fall majoring in Music Performance. Mr. O'Keefe (studio of Dr. Kay Stonefelt) just completed his first year in the Master of Music in Performance degree program. All three winners will be featured soloists with ensembles during the 2017-2018 academic year.
