The Convocation event “Beyond the Gender Binary: Creativity in Pronoun Innovation” will feature Dr. Lee Airton, author of the popular blog, “They Is My Pronoun,” on Monday, Nov. 7, noon at Williams Center Room S204.
Dr. Airton, who teaches in the Master of Teaching program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto, will discuss their work on gender-inclusive pronouns (in particular, the use of singular they/them). Their talk will be entitled, "The making of an effort: What singular they teaches us about the everyday life of social difference." Dr. Airton will also moderate a panel of Fredonia faculty and students who will discuss pronoun innovation from their experiences and expertise. The event is organized by Drs. Bill Boerner, KimMarie Cole, Natalie Gerber, Jeffry Iovannone and Heather McEntarfer.
The program is free and open to the public.
