With a program featuring dance styles from classical ballet to contemporary dance to dance theatre, the Fredonia Dance Ensemble is ready to dazzle audiences with its fourth annual major concert. Three performances are scheduled from March 5 through 7 in Marvel Theatre at the State University of New York at Fredonia.
“The concert is extremely fun and diverse, with something for everyone,” said Helen Myers, who is the artistic director for the Dance Ensemble and the dance program coordinator for the Department of Theatre and Dance at SUNY Fredonia.
The Dance Ensemble concert will feature works choreographed by faculty members Samantha Kenney, Paul Mockovak, Myers and Angelika Summerton.
Also featured will be pieces choreographed by guest artists Terry Beck, who is back for a his fourth concert with the ensemble, and Sabrina Castillo Gallusser, founder of the contemporary dance company, “Momentum” in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Castillo Gallusser travelled to Fredonia to teaching dance classes and set her Dance Ensemble piece entitled “El Laberinto.”
More than 25 of SUNY Fredonia’s most skilled dancers will perform in seven pieces that showcase a wide range of dance styles.
“Having participated in intense rehearsals since September, the dancers are excited and ready to perform,” Myers said.
Performances are set for Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6 at 8 p.m., with a matinee on Sunday, March 7 at 2 p.m.

The Fredonia Dance Ensemble Concert is a Walter Gloor Mainstage Series event and is part of the Lake Shore Savings Season.
