The third annual “Albert A. Dunn Day of Poetry and Prose” will be held Tuesday, April 26, from 1 to 5 p.m. in S104 Williams Center.

The event, to be held during National Poetry Month, will honor Dr. Albert A. Dunn, professor of English who served SUNY Fredonia for 35 years until his passing in 2007, and celebrate his love of literature and poetry.

At 3:30 p.m., past winners of the Albert Dunn Memorial Scholarship and Book Grants will be honored, and this year's winners will be announced. The Dunn Scholarship will be given to a first-year student with a major in English or dual major that includes English; the Dunn Book Endowment will help students purchase fiction, poetry and drama texts.

All are welcome to come and listen at no cost, refreshments will be served.

Proceeds will benefit the Albert A. Dunn Memorial Scholarship and Book Grant Endowment.

Refreshments will be served throughout the afternoon.

Linda Dunn believes a day of reading is a fitting tribute to her late husband. “We hope to honor his legacy by celebrating his love of literature,” she said. “Through the profound ideas and deep understanding of the human condition found in great literature, Albert inspired students to appreciate the immense power and beauty of well crafted words.” Mrs. Dunn will attend the program.

This program is being sponsored by University Advancement, with assistance from the College of Arts & Humanities and the Department of English.
