The husband-and-wife team of Jeff and Sue Briggs, operators of Destinations Plus, a full-service tour company in Silver Creek, will be honored by the SUNY Fredonia Business Club as its Business Person of the Year at a luncheon Thursday, April 19, at the White Inn.
Each year, the Business Club presents the award to an outstanding member of the local business community. Recipients are selected based on their community involvement, business ethics, innovative business activities, concern for employees, contribution to business growth and personal attributes. The Briggses will receive the award, now in its 35th year, at the noon luncheon.
Destinations Plus, which specializes in theme motor-coach tours in Western New York, Northwestern Pennsylvania and Southern Ontario, has grown steadily since the couple founded it 25 years ago. In addition to packaging tours to area attractions, the Briggses have together two dinner/theatre evenings in which every tour guest is given a part, thus becoming an actual cast member. They also host other innovative events and excursions. The company is known for honest, ethical and fair practices with their employees, business partners and other operators.
Jeff and Sue Briggs are involved in the local Chamber of Commerce and the annual Silver Creek Grape Festival, and Sue is also currently involved in a regional economic development task force.
The Chautauqua County economy benefits from new revenue generated by the 200 busses that Destinations Plus brings into the region and the increased awareness created by these visits. By partnering with hundreds of local businesses, organizations and hospitality providers, the Briggses provide memorable experiences and excellent customer service to visitors.
Reservations for the luncheon can be placed by contacting Dave Sifkarovski, special events coordinator for the Business Club, at sifk2946@fredonia.edu or (585)455-1288, no later than Monday, April 16.
