A workshop, “Rise Above the Rest: Developing an Effective Investor Presentation,” will be conducted by Jack McGowan, project manager at Insyte Consulting, on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Fredonia Technology Incubator.
The goal of the session is to help entrepreneurs convey a message in a simple, succinct and effective way in order to stand out to investors. It was noted that effective pitch presentation is essential for entrepreneurs, as investors are often engulfed by startup companies seeking their time and money.
“Jack McGowan is an established asset to the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Western New York,” said Incubator Program Manager Monica Kemp. “High quality entrepreneurial workshops such as this are a key part of our services and programming we provide at the incubator.”
Topics to be discussed include: the importance of being investor-focused, tailoring the pitch to the situation and audience, and discussing the business and not just the product. Mr. McGowan, who has worked at Insyte Consulting for over 20 years, specializes in strategic planning, business plan development, business funding and other fields.
McGowan has seen more than a thousand pitches over his career. As director of the Western New York Venture Association/Buffalo Angels, he has screened potential presenters and helps them prepare to present at investor meetings. He is also a judge and mentor for business plan competitions including the Bright Buffalo Niagara Entrepreneur Expo, 43North Startup Competition, the State University at Buffalo’s Panasci Technology Entrepreneurship Competition and eLab, the New York State Student Business Plan Competition, Buffalo Startup Weekend and others.
The workshop is free and open to the public. Entrepreneurs, from those who are running an established business or those at the idea stage, will benefit by participating in this workshop.
