The Fredonia women's basketball team outscored Buffalo State 32-13 in the fourth quarter -- including a 24-2 run to close out the game -- to claim a 78-67 road win on Saturday. Senior guard Jacque Law (Lime Lake/Pioneer) also joined the 1,000-point club, finishing with 20 points. Emily Lasher (Wilson/Wilson) led the Devils with a 21-point effort.

The Bengals opened the fourth leading 54-46. At the 7:06 mark, the Bengals expanded the lead to 13 points, 65-52, their largest of the game. Fredonia rattled off the next 21 points and held Buffalo State scoreless until 31 seconds remained.

The Devils tied the game at 65 following a three-point play by Law. A three-pointer by Jenna Einink (Westfield/Chautauqua Lake) gave the Devils the lead for good. Einink recorded her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Both Law and Anna Chiacchia (Hamburg/Hamburg) had 10 points in the fourth for Fredonia. Chiacchia finished with 14 points.

The Devils won the rebounding battle, 45-35, with Law adding nine boards and Chiacchia and Lasher pulling down eight each.

The Devils started the game hot, jumping out to a 19-9 lead after the first quarter. Buff State whittled it down to four points by halftime, 33-29. The Bengals scored the first eight points of the third quarter to take the lead, 37-33, that would last until the Devils' final push.

Fredonia used 29 personal fouls by the Bengals to its advantage, going 24 of 36 from the free-throw line. Buff State converted nine attempts in 16 trips as the Devils were whistled for just 15 fouls.

Buffalo State fell to 5-7 in the SUNYAC and 8-10 overall. Katie Villarini led all scorers with 24 points, and Caleh McLean had 15.

Fredonia improved to 6-6 in conference play and stand at 8-11 overall. Law's career total now stands at 1,011 points.

The Devils play host to Brockport in a women's/men's doubleheader in Dods Hall on Tuesday.
