“TransDiscovery: Exploring Gender Variant Lives” is the theme of the next Fredonia Convocation event that will be explored with the screening of the documentary “Trans: The Movie,” and follow-up panel discussion on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m., in McEwen Hall Room 202.
The 2012 film delivers an up-close and personal journey into the lives of a range of contemporary transgender individuals. Transgender is an umbrella term that typically refers to any person who does not identify with the gender he/she was assigned at birth, and therefore transgresses gender norms.
Serving on the discussion panel will be area transgender activists Helen Walther, Elliott DeLine and Cameron Caulfield.
The program, free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Women’s and Gender Studies program. Light refreshments will be served.
