Donna Dolson, lecturer and conductor of the Wind Symphony in the School of Music, played French horn on the recording with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra that just won the GRAMMY for Best Orchestral Performance "Shostakovich Symphony No. 5; Barber: Adagio," Manfred Honeck, conducting.

A native New Yorker, Ms. Dolson has been a member of ensembles around the world, including the Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra, L'Orquesta Sinfonica de la Universidad de Guadalajara in Mexico, the New York City Opera National Company, and the Osaka Century Orchestra in Japan. She has played with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Seattle Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Oslo Philharmonic, Bergen Symphony, Shanghai Symphony, Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra, Colorado Philharmonic and Buffalo Philharmonic. Dolson was an adjudicator for three consecutive International Horn Competitions in Tokyo, and was a featured artist at The International Horn Society Convention at Kalamazoo, Mich. She has performed with the Harmonie Ensemble, Boston Wind Quintet and the Empire Brass Quintet. She is also a member of the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra.

She is heard on many recordings, from "Kiri Sings Gershwin," the cast album of the Broadway revival of Rogers and Hart's musical "On Your Toes;" the complete symphonies of Beethoven, Brahms and Schumann with The Osaka Century Orchestra, to the Opus Magazine 2017 Recording of the Year, "Strauss' Elektra and Der Rosenkavalier" with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Maestro Honeck conducting.

Dolson received her Bachelor of Music degree from Boston University and Masters in Music from the Manhattan School of Music, with post-graduate studies at the University of Oslo. She also studied at Tanglewood, Lenk Music Academy in Switzerland, Boris Goldovsky Opera Institute, Round Top Texas Festival and the Grand Tetons Festival.
