On Friday, April 7, at 6 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room, the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Fredonia Student Athlete Advisory Committee, and the Counseling Center will be holding an event, “The Story of Alexandra Kogut,” in conjunction with the SUNY’s Got Your Back campaign and the State University of New York Athletic Conference’s 100 Million Yards for Yeardley.
Friends and family of Alex Kogut, a victim of domestic violence, including Kaila McClelland and Jenifer Fike Bowman, will share her compelling story.
Green Dot bystander training will also be offered during the event. The event will also include a presentation of donations to Haven House of Buffalo, a child and family services center which supports victims of sexual and domestic violence. Donations, including underwear, socks, pajamas, coloring books and art supplies, reading books, school items, personal hygiene items, bath towels, strollers and other baby supplies, are being accepted to support victims seeking help from Haven House. Donations can be dropped off at the April 7 event or at the Health Hut located on the first floor of the Williams Center on Monday to Friday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. from April 3 to 7.
Fredonia is committed to education leading to the end of sexual and domestic violence. The public is welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
