Fredonia will host a community service event to clean and remove litter from the campus woodlot on Thursday, Sept. 11 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Students, faculty and community members are invited to contribute to the preservation of the local environment by cleaning the area, with the chance to win a gift card from the Faculty Student Association. The event is being held in honor of the National Day of Service and Remembrance.

The cleanup will begin at the intersection of Ring Road and Symphony Circle. Efforts will focus on tidying the campus woodlot, “Forever Wild,” and surrounding areas. In the case of inclement weather conditions, the event will be held on Friday, Sept. 12, at the same time.

Plastic gloves and garbage bags will be provided to attendees.

The cleanup is sponsored by the students and staff of Fredonia’s Educational Development Program. For further information regarding the cleanup, contact EDP by phone, 716-673-3318 or EDP Secretary Barbara Yochym at barbara.yochym@fredonia.edu.
