The Fredonia College of Education - Professional Education Unit (COE-PEU), currently accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) is seeking re-accreditation through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

As part of maintaining accreditation, every seven years 21 educator preparation programs in the COE-PEU that lead to recommendations for Educator Certifications in New York State must be reviewed by Specialty Professional Associations (SPAs) partnered with CAEP to determine whether each program is meeting the rigorous program standards established by each SPA.

All 21 programs at Fredonia have received National Recognition in the current program review cycle.

Each review requires that each program submit sets of assessments aligned to program standards, evaluation rubrics for each assessment, and data on candidate performance in those assessments as evidence that program standards are being met. Moreover, each program must discuss the assessment results and how these data inform continuous program improvements.

The programs, managed by program coordinators in the College of Education and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, include:
