The Office of Volunteer and Community Services will host its eleventh annual Operation Breakfast Rescue from Nov. 5 through 7 to benefit the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry’s Friendly Kitchen.

The main event will take place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, in Williams Center Room G103A. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to drop off non-perishable breakfast food items such as cereal, coffee/creamer, oatmeal, pancake mix, breakfast bars, baby formula, Cream of Wheat, canned fruit and other shelf-stable breakfast items.

Additional donations can be placed in boxes located in the Daniel A. Reed Library on Wednesday, Nov. 5 and Thursday, Nov. 6.

In 2013, thanks to the efforts of students, faculty and staff, more than 400 pounds of food were collected to assist impoverished families in the local community.

Operation Breakfast Rescue is sponsored by the Office of Volunteer and Community Services in conjunction with Reed Library and Delta Chi. Operation Breakfast Rescue is part of the third annual Days of Service. Questions can be directed to Joyce H. Smith, the coordinator of Volunteer and Community Services, at 716-673-3690 or at smithjh@fredonia.edu.
