Five Fredonia employees, whose collective service spans more than 90 years and all major departments within the Finance and Administration division, have received the 2016 Outstanding Administrative Service Award in recognition of exemplary service.
A luncheon to honor the five individuals was held Nov. 9 at the Alumni House.
Recipients of the award include:
- Sue Cortes, a member of the professional staff and Director of Payroll Services. A resident of Sheridan, Mrs. Cortes began at Fredonia in September 1994 as the Human Resources Management System Coordinator.
- Bob Miller from Custodial Services and a Janitor in various buildings. Mr. Miller, who is a resident of Sheridan, has served in the Custodial department since February 2006 when he started as a Cleaner.
- Don Dillenburg from Professional Trades is a General Mechanic in Structural Trades. Mr. Dillenburg, who joined Fredonia in May 2000 as a Cleaner in Custodial Services, resides in Sheridan.
- Shannon McKoon from Secretarial/Clerical, is an Office Assistant 2 in Facilities Services. Ms. McKoon began her career at Fredonia in May 2005 as a Clerk 1, and resides in Dunkirk.
- Diane Mekus, a member of the Faculty Student Association (FSA) Operational staff as an Assistant Service Worker in Dining Services. Ms. Mekus has worked with FSA since October 1985, and resides in Fredonia.
For the last 14 years, the Division of Finance and Administration division has recognized individuals from within the division who have demonstrated a solid team effort in their everyday actions, an outstanding Fredonia service attitude, creativity and resourcefulness in improving services, and a positive attitude in working with students, faculty and staff.
