Fredonia alumnus Ron Nasca, owner of the Mudslingers pottery studio, and Marv Bjurlin, professor emeritus, will be hosting the Empty Bowls Fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel in Dunkirk.

Local potters, including Fredonia employees, have donated their materials, time and skills to make bowls that can be obtained through donations. There will be over 1,000 bowls to choose from and they will each be available with a donation of $10 to $30.

After selecting the bowls and making a donation, guests will be able to get soup prepared by Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) Culinary Arts students. The ingredients for the soups will be donated by Tuscany Deli and there will be a vegetarian option available. Throughout the event, there will be live musical entertainment featuring Fredonia students that is coordinated by former Fredonia staffer Tom Gestwicki.

All of the funds raised at the event will be distributed through the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation to feed the hungry in Chautauqua County.
