Throughout the month of October, Fredonia’s Professional Development Center will be hosting a series of events in honor of the weekly themes of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM).
Celebrated every October, NCSAM was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure every American has the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online.
The themes and events on campus include:
Week 1: General Cybersecurity Awareness: 5 Years of Stop. Think. Connect. Christopher Taverna from the Professional Development Center will present a welcome to NCSAM and "Safe Computing at Work and Home" on Thursday, Oct. 1 in Williams Center Room S204B from 10-10:50 a.m.
Week 2: Creating a Culture of Cybersecurity at Work. A Q&A with a panel of experts, including Benjamin Hartung, T. John McCune, and Chief Information Officer Steve Rieks from Information Technology Services, on Tuesday, Oct. 6 in Williams Center Room G103 B from 2-2:50 p.m.
Week 3: Connected Communities: Staying Protected While Always Connected. A presentation by Sara Parme and Kathleen Sacco from Reed Library on Friday, Oct. 16 in Williams Center Room G103B from 11-11:50 a.m.
Week 4: Your Evolving Digital Life. Rob Olson from the Department of Computer and Information Sciences will present "what hackers do" in four different demonstrations. The presentation is Wednesday, Oct. 21 in Williams Center Room S204 from 10-10:50 a.m.
Week 5: Building the Next Generation of Cyber Professionals. A panel discussion will be facilitated by Director Tracy Collingwood from the Career Development Office on Tuesday, Oct. 27 in Williams Center Room S204 from 3:30-4:50 p.m.
