The annual holiday food drive by members of the Department of Facilities Services at SUNY Fredonia collected 310 pounds of non-perishable food to benefit Chautauqua County Rural Ministry.
“I think it’s the most we’ve ever received. We always have a good turnout, but this year seems to have been a tremendous one,” said Suzanne Freitas, head janitor and food drive coordinator. “Every year, as part of our holiday party, we have a food drive.”
Facilities Services either selects a needy family as a sole recipient or designates Chautauqua County Rural Ministry for the proceeds from their drive.
The donations were to be taken to Rural Ministry food pantry last week. Judy Leone of Custodial Services was awarded a prize for her participation in the campaign.
